Homestead Furniture Making Contest

Date: January 17, 2007 - January 20, 2007
Followed by: Wonders of the World
Homestead Furniture Making Contest was a contest that was held from January 17, 2007, to January 20, 2007. Players were given the task of furnishing Roblox's new starter place, the Happy Home in Robloxia. It is noteworthy for being the first ever contest and event on Roblox.
The contest was first announced by Shedletsky on the Roblox Blog on January 17, 2007. Submissions would be taken in via models through the forums along with a brief description of what the contestant had developed. All winning models would be published into the Toolbox under the newly created "Furniture" tab.
The contestants would receive points based on their creativity, construction, attention to detail, and scale. Contestants would be awarded additional points if they provided a brief description of how to publish a model in the contest's thread.
By January 18, 2007, eight users had submitted 38 models, with 30 of them being added into the Toolbox.SRC
By the deadline, nine players had been chosen as the grand prize winners of the contest with each of them being given a one-time customized avatar of their choice, each user's submissions being pictured below.

Avatar Submissions
Some rules for submitting a Figure model were no invisible parts, no adding, removing, or resizing any parts, and no edits to the health bar. Submissions were to be uploaded to the Model Library, and submitted to Shedletsky in direct messages. Most of these models, including earlier versions, can be found on the Roblox Library or in user inventories.
Despite the fact that the primary purpose of the avatars were to provide each winner with body colors and a classic t-shirt, miked and Cadi decided to add faces to their own avatars. Miked submitted his avatar with 0.3 reflectance on it to give a golden effect. Miked accidentally submitted his Figure unlocked, and so people were able to use building tools to pull his character apart in-game. Anaminus also accidentally left theirs unlocked in earlier iterations of their submission. Miked's Figure submission also had secret backdoor scripts in the torso disguised as decals. It is unknown if the script even worked.
Rocks25 would submit his avatar with translucent parts. PoliceModlers would do something similar with the arms, and apply .2 reflectance to the head. He would also cover the head with an image on all sides. Similarly to Miked and Cadi, ToaZuku and PoliceModlers decided to add images to the head. It also appears that Anaminus helped ToaZuku with creating their submission.
Despite Cadi creating a model with just a custom face, Cadi's figure may have never been submitted. Most instances of the model did not contain a humanoid, and fell apart upon spawning in. Upon asking a user who owned the Cadi account, they did not appear to have any messages sent to Shedletsky about the Figure submission. One of Cadi's figures created in December 2006, before the contest, contains a T-Shirt that seemingly didn't end up being used in the actual submissions.
